Independence Day (Philippines)

Independence Day (Filipino: Araw ng Kasarinlán; also referred to as Araw ng Kalayaan, meaning "Day of Freedom") is a national holiday celebrated in the Philippines every year on June 12, marking the announcement of Philippine independence from Spain in 1898. Since 1978, it has been recognized as the National Day of the country.
